Bowyer won't read too much into Reds' recent form

Blackburn held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at Anfield in the first tie last month
Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer says his team won’t be fooled by Liverpool’s recent league form as they prepare to meet in The FA Cup.

The Championship side host the Reds at Ewood Park in their sixth round replay on Wednesday evening with a spot in the semi-final against Aston Villa at stake.

And despite Brendan Rodgers’ team coming into the tie on the back of two successive defeats, Bowyer believes Blackburn will be facing one of the Premier League’s best who enjoyed a 13-game unbeaten streak prior to that.

"I think it's ridiculous that after losing two games, the team that was hailed prior to those two games as being the best in the Premier League - which they were at the time with the football they were playing - then comes in for that," said Bowyer.

"Brendan Rodgers has done an unbelievable job, he doesn't need me telling him.

"But that's just the world we live in now - it's crazy."

Rovers go into the game on the back of an impressive 3-0 win against Leeds United at the weekend.

Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer.

Bowyer has led Rovers to Cup wins against the likes of Swansea and Stoke this season

But a string of injuries has hit Bowyer’s squad with up to ten of his regulars possibly ruled out of the game.

"It would be a massive achievement for us to pull it off," added Bowyer, whose team have dumped out top-flight opposition in Swansea City and Stoke City at Ewood Park already this season.

"But we're aware of what lies ahead and the quality that's in front of us.

"We haven't been able to bring in enough players to help us through the time that we had prior to the international break where we played 13 games in 43 days.

"We can't even play one of our own players [John O’Sullivan] that we sent out on loan before the game, who has now come back with us and who played for us on Saturday in the league - yet he can't play for us on Wednesday night.

"For me, that doesn't make sense. It's another challenge, another player less."
