And after putting in an impressively disciplined and effective performance in their draw at Anfield last month, Kilgallon sees no reason why Rovers can’t cause an upset.

"Why not?” questioned the former Leeds United, Sheffield United and Sunderland man.

"We know what we've got to do and it won't be too dis-similar to what we did at their place.

"We can't go into it thinking that we're the favourites and it's going to be easy because we're at home, that's when you get bitten and we're not daft.

"They're a great team and we need to be like we were at Anfield but try to make more chances.

"I think we're very disciplined and we concentrated for the whole 90 minutes, so at home hopefully we can cause a few more chances.

"They might think they could have done better in that game, so we'll go in there disciplined again, we'll work on things to stop them and we'll be up for it.

"We know how hard it's going to be but you can see we know this season isn't over, we're still looking for something and we want to be able to say we've had a great season and hopefully we can cause an upset.”

Gary Bowyer’s team have already enjoyed FA Cup wins at Ewood Park against Premier League teams this season with Swansea City and Stoke City coming unstuck in east Lancashire.

Now that there’s a chance of a trip to Wembley with Aston Villa awaiting the winners later this month, the 31-year-old says both teams will be putting their recent league form out of the window in a bid to reach the last four.

"It's such a big game on Wednesday, as you'll be playing at Wembley in the next game and this is what everyone dreams of," he told Rovers Player, after their 3-0 victory over Leeds United in the Championship at the weekend.

"[Form] will be all forgotten about and you have to take it as another game against Liverpool.

"They'll be concentrating on us and we've been focused on the league games but now we can start talking about it, it’s the time to go out there and make yourself proud.

"The next game is at Wembley, so what more do you need in your head to say: ‘come on, let's play well'?”
