Chelsea FC appeal board update

An independent Appeal Board has allowed an appeal by Chelsea FC in relation to a breach of FA Rule E20.1.

The FA charged Chelsea FC and West Ham United FC with a breach of FA Rule E20.1 following the mass confrontation at their Premier League game on Saturday 31 January 2026. It was alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 95th minute, and both clubs admitted the charge against them.

An independent Regulatory Commission imposed a £325,000 fine on Chelsea FC and a £300,000 fine on West Ham United FC following a hearing.

Chelsea FC subsequently appealed against the decision of the Regulatory Commission. The Appeal Board allowed this appeal and reduced the club’s fine to £250,000 following a hearing, and the written reasons for its decisions can be seen below.
