Middlesbrough and Charlton showed exactly why they lead the way in the FA Women’s Premier League divisions as both cruised to victories.

Scarr’s trio was followed up by a brace from Bianca Owens and goals from Jess Havelock and Emma Kelly as Boro went eight points clear at the top of the table.

Blackburn have only played eight matches this season and are looking to make up for lost ground as they beat Nottingham Forest 7-0.

Strikes from Saffron Jordan, Natasha Flint, Kayleigh McDonald, Lagan Makin, Lynda Shepherd, Kelsey Pearson and an own goal delivered Blackburn’s sixth victory of the campaign.

Elsewhere, Stoke City edged out bottom side Guiseley Vixens 3-2 courtesy of Rachel Ball, Ashleigh Hayes and Hannah Keryakoplis.

SOUTHERN DIVISION

Four goals from Charlotte Gurr helped Charlton Athletic cruise to a 9-0 victory over Swindon Town, who are still looking for their first point of the season.

Gurr hit two in the first half as a thunderous strike from Charley Clifford and an own goal had the visitors 4-0 up at the break.

And the forward completed her hat-trick just past the hour mark from the spot-kick before adding a fourth late on.

Olivia Lukasewich, Georgia Griffin and Kit Graham also got on the scoresheet.

Second placed Crystal Palace couldn’t keep tabs with the league leaders as Angela Addison netted for C&K Basildon to deny the Eagles.

Elsewhere, West Ham United lifted themselves above Cardiff City with a thumping 6-2 victory.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Both Cardiff City and West Ham were desperate to get back to winning ways in the league and served up an eight-goal thriller in the Welsh capital.

And it didn’t take long for the goal-fest to commence as Rosie Kmita slotted home after just 12 minutes.

An Ellie Zoephl header made sure it was 2-0 to the Irons at the break and 58 seconds into the second half, Kmita made it three.

Kelly Wealthall made it 4-0 before Cardiff pulled a goal back through Kelly Isaac. Zoephl notched her second two minutes later as Estelle Randall slammed home for the hosts in the 75th minute.

And the scoring was complete five minutes later when Kmita found Chloe Burr who rounded the goalkeeper to make it 6-2.

MANAGER OF THE WEEK

C&K Basildon Steve Tilson will be delighted with his side as they beat Crystal Palace 1-0, moving them level on points with the Eagles in second place.

It has been a standout season for Tilson’s side having collected 10 victories including a triumph over league leaders Charlton.

GOAL OF THE WEEK

Kelsey Pearson put the icing on the cake for Blackburn Rovers in their 7-0 triumph over Forest.

The full-back picked up the ball on the edge of the box before driving forward and beautifully bending past Ashleigh Hind in the Forest net.
