Liverpool Ladies have continued their recruitment drive by signing England defender Alex Greenwood from Notts County.

The Reds, FA WSL 1 champions in 2013 and 2014, have strengthened their squad in recent weeks by snapping up Siobhan Chamberlain, Natasha Harding, Caroline Weir, Sophie Ingle, Mandy van den Berg and Emma Lundh.

And they have added Lionesses left-back Greenwood to their evolving squad, under the management of new boss Scott Rogers.

Greenwood was the youngest member of Mark Sampson’s England squad that finished third at last summer’s World Cup in Canada, playing in the bronze medal match against Germany.

She made her debut against Italy in March 2014 and has gone on to earn 17 caps.

The 22-year-old was part of the Lady Pies squad that reached both the SSE Women’s FA Cup Final and the Continental Tyres Cup Final last season.

Liverpool will open their 2016 campaign with a home game against Birmingham City on Wednesday 23 March.
