FA WSL 1 side Liverpool Ladies have signed Scotland international Caroline Weir from Bristol City.

The 20-year-old midfielder follows in the footsteps of former Vixens team-mate Sophie Ingle, who joined the Reds in November.

Weir has previously played for Arsenal and she helped the Gunners win The FA Women’s Cup in 2014.

Weir said: “Liverpool Ladies are a really ambitious club and I am confident that we can win more trophies over the next few seasons.

“It is a great move for me. There are so many talented players here and I am really looking forward to playing alongside them in order to develop my game.”

Liverpool boss Scott Rogers added: “Caroline is an exciting, young player who has huge potential.

“Having watched her performances for Bristol and Scotland, I am confident that she can provide us with a real goal threat from midfield.”

Fixtures for the new FA WSL season will be announced on Wednesday 27 January.

The league will get under way on Wednesday 23 March.
