'We have to grab Wembley opportunity with both hands'

Friday 20 Feb 2015
The FA Trophy Semi-Final first legs take place this weekend

North Ferriby United manager Billy Heath believes reaching the FA Trophy Final would put the ‘icing on the cake’, after a marvellous couple of years for the club.

If his side fend off the challenge of Bath City in the Semi-Final, they will play at Wembley for only the second time in the club's 81-year history.

The Villagers booked their place in this two-legged tie with a win over 2008 champions Ebbsfleet United to move one step closer to the televised final.

Semi-Final First Leg

Winners receive £16,000

United remarkably got promoted to the Conference North in 2013 and finished second in their maiden season, and Heath is confident that they can continue this success story with a positive result in the first leg at Twerton Park on Saturday.

Heath said: “We’ve got to go out there and get a result.

Bath have enough players to field two teams so it will be interesting to what side they put out, but we’ve got to focus on ourselves, try to win the game and go for the win like we always do.

“We’ve got a fantastic opportunity to exceed all expectations and we have to grab it with both hands.

“For a small club like [North] Ferriby to walk out at Wembley it would be absolutely fantastic and an unbelievable achievement for the club – it would just put the icing on the cake.”

Neither side has met before but they both come into this game in good form.

The Villagers are unbeaten in their last ten, while Bath come into this tie off the back of a 7-4 win over Farnborough.

Bath City first-team coach Lee Howells has nothing but praise for the way his team have stuck together and feels the team spirit could see them go all the way in the competition.

Howells said: “We have done well to get to this stage. It has been a difficult season with the club up for sale but we have stuck together and got through that.

“I want to put out my best team and concentrate on what we plan to do and hopefully come Saturday we will have a good chance of progressing to the final.”

The second leg between the two takes place a week later on Saturday 28 February, with the Final at Wembley on Sunday 29 March 2015.
