Chelsea celebrate Dom Solanke's (second left) goal at St. James's Park
Chelsea left it late but they showed their quality in extra time to record an emphatic 3-0 win over Newcastle at St James' Park to book their place in the FA Youth Cup Semi-Finals.

The two teams failed to find the target in the opening 90 minutes, but it was the west London club who showed their quality in the final stages as goals from England starlets Izzy Brown, Dominic Solanke and Tammy Abraham helped Chelsea reach the last four for the sixth year in a row.

The defending champions will now face a two-legged Semi-Final tie against either Nottingham Forest or Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea blew a golden chance to open the scoring after just four minutes when they were awarded a penalty after Jay DaSilva was brought down inside the area by Michael Newberry.

But Brown saw his spot kick well-saved by his England U17 team-mate and Newcastle 'keeper Freddie Woodman, diving low to his left.

Over 11,000 fans turned up to cheer on Newcastle, but it was Chelsea who continued to create the best openings and both Brown and Solanke had good chances to clinch a late winner while Abraham saw an effort ruled out for handball.

The game went into extra time and Chelsea finally made their dominance pay as Brown broke the deadlock just four minutes after the re-start when he raced onto a pass from Kyle Scott and took the ball around Woodman before slotting the ball into the back of the net.

Solanke doubled Chelsea's lead five minutes into the second period when he picked up the ball from Brown and produced a great finish to strike the ball past the Newcastle 'keeper.

Abraham made it three for Chelsea right at the end when he tapped home from close-range to keep alive their dream of winning the competition once again.
