And it is pleasing for the whole English Futsal community to have The Cup back as a climax to what has been a long qualifying route.

The campaign started last December with 49 qualifying leagues taking place across the country and over 500 teams, both men’s and women’s, competing.

That was only the beginning of the competition, which has since moved through several stages including the regionals, mini leagues and semi-finals before reaching the national finals this weekend.

"The aim of The FA Futsal Cup was to provide more competitive match opportunities for clubs within the National Futsal League, to extend the season and support the on-going development of both the clubs and their talented players," said Simon Walker, The FA’s National Development Manager for Small-Sided Football.

"On top of these various benefits, the competition also provides an exciting and compelling national finals weekend which brings the Futsal community together to generate a tremendous atmosphere.

Sunday sees the semi-finals take place, with the top three and best second-placed team from the men progressing and the top two from each group of the women returning.
