See new balls from Mitre to be used across FA Competitions after partnership renewed

Thursday 26 Oct 2023

The new Emirates FA Cup and Women’s FA Cup football designs have been unveiled by our official ball supplier, Mitre.

The drop coincides with the news that we have extended our partnership with Mitre for a further three years, seeing the brand continue as the official ball supplier across several FA competitions including the Emirates FA Cup, the Women’s FA Cup, the Isuzu FA Vase, the Isuzu FA Trophy, and the Golden Ball Awards until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Mitre’s Ultimax Pro football which is used in all sponsored competitions is an evolution of the Ultimax and a nod to Mitre's deep heritage in the game. Built over decades of knowledge, the ball uses unique four panel thermally bonded construction increasing that sweet spot for a cleaner strike.

Hyperflow debossed grooves improve in-flight dynamics and reduce drag for pinpoint passing and the Hyperfoam mid-layer improves contact for a responsive first touch and exceptional close control. Incredible flight consistency, unbeatable shape retention and ultimate power.

Created with football culture in mind, the balls’ designs pay homage to the fans. The Ultimax Pro Emirates FA Cup and Ultimax Pro Women’s FA Cup balls throw it back to the 90s with a modern take on the iconic design of the OG Mitre Ultimax, updating its look for today’s player by including detailed geometric patterns inspired by fans’ scarves and flags on matchdays and the football community.

The bold red on the men’s ball has been carefully matched to the FA colour pallet and blues are taken from Mitre’s, as well as both colours being synonymous with classic football. The women’s ball features the Women’s FA Cup brand colours including deep purple, the FA’s blue and touches of mint green, and the silver of the trophies.

Mitre’s Ultimax Pro Emirates FA Cup is available in a tier-down range including Training and Play mini to suit all abilities and ages.

Our head of commercial partnerships, Stephen Hutchison said: “We’ve really valued this relationship with Mitre since they came on board, so we’re very happy to extend our partnership. Mitre shares the desire for our competitions to maintain the highest standards, and their track record as football suppliers to both the game in England historically and us throughout this period has been outstanding.”

And Simon Rowe, VP global sports marketing at Pentland Brands, Mitre’s parent company, added: “We’re delighted to extend our partnership with the FA for a further three years. At our core, we are a brand dedicated to our fans, and we firmly believe the beautiful game should always start with a beautiful ball. Today we proudly introduce the new Emirates FA Cup Ultimax Pro ball and Women’s FA Cup ball designs. Players and fans can expect the same game-changing technology coupled with a levelled-up retro design that encapsulates Mitre’s iconic past through the current football scene.”
