England MU18s ended their mini tour of Europe with a third successive victory, after beating Austria on Tuesday evening.
Goals from Joe Gelhardt, Yunus Musah and Jeremy Sarmiento sealed victory for Ian Foster’s Young Lions, who had previously turned over the U19 sides of Poland and Slovakia.
And they got off to a great start in Leobersdorf when Gelhardt struck England ahead in the first minute.
The hosts equalised via Bernhard Zimmermann in the 19th minute before Musah restored England’s advantage just before half time.
England enjoyed the better of the game in terms of possession and chances, but Austria found a way back into the game with a second goal and it looked as though it was going to end all square.
But when substitute Sarmiento picked the ball up in the 77th minute and embarked on a strong run forward, his finish saw him smash the ball home from the edge of the box to secure a memorable victory.
