The final games of the FA Women’s National League season have brought the curtain down on an enthralling year of football.
Blackburn Rovers once again proved why they will be battling it out with Coventry United in FA Women’s National League Championship play-off final with a 5-1 win over Guiseley Vixens.
Saffron Jordan and Natasha Flint both scored twice, with Natasha Fenton adding the other goal as the Northern Premier Division champions extended their impressive run to 23 wins in 24 games.
Meanwhile, Southern Premier Division champions Coventry were held to a 1-1 draw at second-place Cardiff City with Beth Merrick grabbing the goal for the visitors.
Huddersfield Town recorded a mammoth 11-0 win over Bradford City with a Laura Elford hat-trick, two from Lucy Sowerby and Arianne Parnham, Lucy Roberts, Kerry Hope, Kate Mallin and Sarah Dobby adding the extras, the latter in her final game before retirement.
Sunderland made sure they finished the season as runners up with a 5-2 win over Sheffield FC, while Derby County inflicted a 3-0 defeat on Doncaster Rovers Belles.
Fylde made it three wins on the spin with a 3-1 victory over Stoke as a stunning solo effort from Emily Hollinshead added to earlier strikes from Jenna Carroll and Sadie Mitchell.
And Nottingham Forrest ended the season with a 5-2 win on the road to Hull City after going behind and then scoring all five goals in response before the half-time whistle.
Back in the Southern Premier Division Gillingham did enough to earn a point off Chichester City as Maddison Farrand missed a penalty but made up for it with an all-important second-half strike to pull her team back into the game.
MK Dons fired in a late flurry of goals courtesy of Leah Cudone, Lou Naylor, Alice Hughes and Kim Farrow to beat C & K Basildon 4-0 while Loughborough Foxes hosted Oxford United in a 1-1 draw.
And both London clubs ended their seasons with wins as Watford overcame Plymouth Argyle 3-2 with goals from Adekite Fatuga-Dada, Katie O’Leary and Alysha Stojko-Down.
QPR beat Portsmouth 2-1 after Courtnay Ward-Chambers earned and scored a penalty before Caitlin Collighan equalised for Pompey and Jo Wilson got the winner for the Rs.
