England U21s are in Sheffield on Tuesday evening, as they face Ukraine in their next Euro Qualifier.
For one member of the Young Lions squad, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, it’s a return to his home town and boyhood club, Sheffield United.
And the Everton striker received a surprise and special visit at St. George’s Park in the build-up to the game when his former PE teacher Rich Mintoft and pupils from Forge Valley School in Sheffield came along to watch training.
Armed with a special photo montage featuring images of ‘DCL’ in the past and the present, the pupils also had the chance to meet the rest of Aidy Boothroyd’s squad who enjoyed a 2-1 victory over Romania on Saturday.
And the 21-year-old spoke to the England programme about his Bramall Lane return and a few other matters in the build-up to the game.
You’ll be back at Sheffield United with the U21s, no doubt a special night for you, will you have many friends and family there?
It’s something I’m really looking forward to. I played just over ten times for the first-team at Sheffield United so I’m really looking forward to going back to the club I grew up supporting. I’ll have a lot of family and friends there, so I can’t wait to run out for England at Bramall Lane.
When you’re on the way to games and have your earphones on, or are in your car, what sort of music do you listen to?
It’s got to be Drake, probably and J-Cole, people like that. A lot of hip hop and especially the Migos at the moment. I want something upbeat that’s going to get you up for the game.
What about movies? Do you get to the cinema often? What was the last film you saw?
Black Panther was the last one I went to see at the cinema, it was good.
Is there an app on your phone you couldn’t be without?
Probably Instagram is the one I would miss the most. Twitter, I would get rid of, I don’t really use it that much.
When you’re not wear football kits and training gear, what sort of clothes do you like wearing?
I don’t really wear tracksuits too often. I’m a jeans, Vans, t-shirt and jacket type of guy, so that’s usually me.
