Hamlet comeback earns Buildbase FA Trophy fourth round replay at Macclesfield

Saturday 25 Feb 2017
Tranmere Rovers, Lincoln City and York City moved one step closer to The Buildbase FA Trophy Final

Ashley Carew was the hero for Dulwich Hamlet as they came from two goals down to secure a dramatic 2-2 draw against Macclesfield Town in The Buildbase FA Trophy fourth round.

Luke Summerfield’s free-kick was too good for Preston Edwards in the Hamlet goal with just nine minutes played to give the Silkmen the early advantage.

Summerfield capitalised on a poor clearance from Edwards with an audacious lob from 35 yards to put the National League side in control with 18 minutes played.

Quade Taylor pulled a goal back for the home side seven minutes later, before Carew popped up in the 87th-minute to earn the Isthmian Premier League side a replay.

Cole Stockton scored a hat-trick as Tranmere Rovers were 5-1 winners over Barrow AFC to book their place in the semi-finals.

Jordan Williams broke clear to give Barrow the lead on 11 minutes but Rovers were level through Michael Ihiekwe on the half-hour mark.

Stockton slotted into an empty net to put his side ahead on the hour before reacting first to a rebound after Andy Mangan’s shot for his second.

Mangan had the fourth himself with a beautiful 25-yard free-kick past Jonathan Flatt in the Barrow goal after 81 minutes, before Stockton completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot.

Last weekend’s Emirates FA Cup heroes Lincoln City are also in the last four after a 2-0 victory at Boreham Wood.

Joe Ward broke the deadlock after 62 minutes when he broke into the box and fired home, before Matt Paine put the ball into his own net to complete the scoring.

York City missed a penalty and saw Danny Holmes sent off but were still able to hold on for a 1-0 victory over Brackley Town.

Jon Parkin was fouled in the area by Alex Gudger with just 10 minutes gone but striker saw his spot-kick saved by Laurie Walker.

Parkin bounced back though to score the only goal of the game after 29 minutes as he headed home Sean Newton’s inviting cross.

Holmes picked up two yellow cards in quick success as City played the final 10 minutes with 10men, but were able to hold on to progress.

The draw for the semi-finals will take place at Wembley Stadium connected by EE on Monday 27 February 2017 from 10.30am and is available to view live on Periscope via the @FA Twitter account.
