Gomes and Sancho strike to seal Euro victory for Young Lions

England Under-17s got their Euro Qualifying campaign up and running with a 2-0 victory over Azerbaijan on Tuesday evening.

First-half goals from Manchester United’s Angel Gomes and Manchester City’s Jadon Sancho proved enough to seal the win for Steve Cooper’s side in Buftea.

The Young Lions will face host nation Romania on Thursday and Austria on Sunday in their remaining fixtures, knowing that progress from the first qualifying round will secure a spot in next year’s Elite qualifying round.
