Patrick Bamford appeared just once for England’s Under-21s in 2014, but he is enjoying a fine season at Middlesbrough.

The on-loan Chelsea striker has scored six goals for the Championship high-fliers, including one against Derby County earlier this month.

And his domestic form earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad for the 3-1 friendly win over Portugal at Turf Moor in November.

He came off the bench for the final 11 minutes, but if he keeps up his impressive goalscoring record on Teesside he can expect to be involved in more England squads in the future.
