Kenny Swain has named his squad for his England U16s’ winner-takes-all Sky Sports Victory Shield clash with Scotland.
Shea Conaty’s late winner for Northern Ireland over the Young Lions’ last week blew this year’s Shield wide open, and as each country approaches their final match at the end of month, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Young Lions could pick up the prize.
England squad to face Scotland:
Scotland U16s v England U16s
The Sky Sports Victory Shield 7.35pm, Friday 29 November 2013 Stark’s Park, Kirkcaldy Live on Sky Sports
Goalkeepers: Alfie Whiteman (Tottenham Hotspur), Connor King (Burnley)
Defenders: James Yates (Everton), Cameron Humphreys (Manchester City), Reece Oxford (West Ham), Danny Collinge (MK Dons), Benjamin Cull (Southampton)
Midfielders: Chris Willock (Arsenal), Tom Davies (Everton), William Patching (Manchester City), Foday Naby (Fulham), Jacob Maddox (Chelsea), Herbie Kane (Liverpool)
Forwards: Lukas Nmecha (Manchester City) Jonathan Leko (West Bromwich Albion), Layton Ndukwu (Leicester City), Rushian Hepburn-Murphy (Aston Villa), Kaylen Hinds (Arsenal)
Swain’s side have experienced mixed fortunes so far in their defence of the Shield, beating Wales 1-0 in their first game at Kidderminster in October, before suffering defeat at Bournemouth last week.
Scotland, who top the group on four points after a 3-0 victory over Northern Ireland in their opening match and a 2-2 draw with Wales at the end of October, know that a win against the English at the home of Raith Rovers will guarantee them first place.
Before that decider, the Irish will be looking to crank up the pressure by defeating Wales in their final match, which would leave them on six points, and Victory Shield winners should Scotland and England draw.
Whatever happens, it promises to be an action-packed night in Perthshire, and you can watch it live on Sky Sports.
