As part of the forthcoming UEFA Women’s EURO 2022, Libraries Connected has been working with The Football Association and UEFA to produce a new creative resource pack which will enable communities to come together to celebrate and enjoy the tournament.
The resource pack, designed by artist Deborah Goatley-Birch, includes activities inspired by football fan objects such as rosettes, fanzines and banners and includes a reading list of books that feature trailblazing sports people. There are activities to tie in with the themes of Refugee Week/City of Sanctuary, inspiring women, as well as football, and activity suggestions of all ages and abilities including some linked to Rhyme Time, Knit and Natter. Resources are available at the bottom of this page.
Deborah trialled and developed the pack working with a charity which supports adults with learning disabilities, autism and other physical and neurological health conditions. Participants included carers and a mixed age range of adults in supported and independent living accommodation and provided the excellent photos and examples used in the pack.
We would love to see how you engage with the resources! Share your community's work on social by using #WEURO2022 across all platforms.
*All images in the resource pack were created in a workshop session from participants cutting out magazines and web articles relating to football stories and football histories.
