Liverpool-based outfit Campfield win The FA Sunday Cup
Two goals from Steven Jones gave Campfield victory over OJM in the Final of The FA Sunday Cup at Ewood Park.

Both teams were appearing in the Final for the first time in their history and they served up a wonderful spectacle in front of a healthy crowd.

Liverpool Business Houses Sunday League outfit Campfield dominated the first half and went ahead early on.

Jones tapped home from close range after Ryan Cox’s shot had brought a superb one-handed save from Danny Roberts in the OJM goal.

The striker's ability to hold the ball up and play neat passes into Campfield’s other attacking players was causing OJM all sorts of problems as the Merseysiders began to take control.

They were moving the ball quicker then their opponents, with the impressive Kevin Macellin dictating the play in midfield.

Indeed, it was Campfield who created the majority of the chances in the opening 45 minutes, with keeper Roberts doing well to keep the Warley & District Sunday League side in the game.

The best chance OJM fashioned in the first period came seconds before half-time as Sean Williams’ shot was pushed onto a post by Ryan Jones.

But they started the second half on the front foot. Reece Lynch brought a point-blank stop from Jones, and moments later the Campfield no1 made another first class save, this time with his feet as OJM began to show their quality.

Jones was becoming the busier of the two keepers as OJM desperately went in search of an equaliser, and he again frustrated the Midlands side when he pushed David Meese’s shot from inside the area wide of the post.

Having soaked up OJM’s second-half pressure, though, Campfield doubled their lead with less than 20 minutes remaining.

Jones netting his second, finishing off a wonderful flowing move with a powerful shot that was deflected in past Roberts.

It was beautiful, patient football that left Campfield tantalisingly close to success and they were superb in the closing stages - their controlled passing game restricted the chances OJM could create.

Darius Darkin fired one over in the closing stages as OJM looked for a route back into the match, but Campfield held firm to secure their first ever FA Sunday Cup success.
