Brandon Williams, Rhys Williams and Sam Surridge join MU21s as four withdraw

Brandon Williams played for England MU20s last season and is now in Aidy Boothroyd's MU21s

Brandon Williams, Rhys Williams and Sam Surridge have been called up to the England MU21s squad for the forthcoming 2021 UEFA U21 EURO Championship qualifiers against Andorra and Turkey.

However, Young Lions boss Aidy Boothroyd will be without Japhet Tanganga, Tariq Lamptey, Reiss Nelson and Rhian Brewster who are withdrawn from the initial squad named last week.

Chelsea's Reece James has also left the group, having been promoted to the senior squad for the first time.

For Manchester United left-back Brandon and Liverpool central defender Rhys, this is their first call up to the MU21s, having previously represented other Young Lions age groups with Rhys Williams having been initially named in Lee Carsley's MU20s squad last week.

AFC Bournemouth striker Surridge has previously been capped by the MU21s last season, scoring in a 2-2 draw with Slovenia in October 2019.

Boothroyd’s side require four points to secure top spot in their group and they start with a trip to Andorra on Wednesday 7 October before returning to home soil to face Turkey at Molineux on Tuesday 13 October.
