The goals flew in on a super Saturday of action as sides up and down the country marched one step further to Wembley in the Buildbase FA Trophy first round qualifying.

Ashton United are comfortably through to the next round after defeating Frickley Athletic 4-1 thanks to goals from Matty Chadwick, Liam Tomsett, Jack Dyche and substitute Alex Johnson – the Robins will find out who their next opponent will be on Monday when the second round qualifying draw takes place.

There was a fantastic game in Cumbria as Kendal Town hosted Atherton Collieries, with the away side triumphing 4-2 after a memorable performance.

Kendal opened the scoring inside ten minutes, with Mike Aspin sweeping home after Connor Gaul’s effort – Ryan Salmon equalised soon after for Colls.

Chris Lynch got his first for the club to give Colls the lead, Kendal made it 2-2, and then the visitors left it late, with replacements Jordan Cover and Ashley Woods settling the tie in the final ten minutes.

The heaviest scoreline of the round so far was seen in the midlands as Stafford Rangers downed St Ives Town 6-0, with two goals for Massiah McDonald and one apiece for Kieran Morris, Louis Briscoe, Richard Gregory and Dan Westwood.

Slough Town caught the eye with their performance away at Kidlington, the Berkshire side triumphing 4-1 despite being on their travels and playing a step below in the non-league football ladder.

Wingate & Finchley were also big winners away from home with their 5-0 victory away at Biggleswade Town.

Sean Cronin opened the scoring for the day after just 17 minutes before Luke Ifil, Rob Laney, Reece Beckles-Richards and Ahmet Rifat joined the party.

There was a good old tussle down on the south coast with Ashford Town beating Isthmian League South Division side Hastings United on their own patch.

Romario Jones fired in after just two minutes and Jack Beadle put Ashford 2-0 up before Hastings pulled one back.

Beadle then doubled his tally for the day to make it 3-1 but the home side pulled up trees to level things up 3-3 in injury time – however, the day belonged to Beadle as he completed his hat-trick right at the death to win the day for Ashford.

On Sunday, Thamesmead Town secured a comfortable 3-1 win against Brightlingsea Regent, with Laurent Mendy, Bode Anidugbe and Ellis Green all on target.
