Aiden Bennett scored twice as Cirencester Town came from behind to dump Evesham United out of the Buildbase FA Trophy in the preliminary round.

Lewis Powell had given home side Evesham the lead seven minutes into the second half but Ben Whitehead powered one in off the post to level shortly after.

And then Bennett took control as he fired in an angled drive from 20 yards to give Cirencester the lead before scoring a second just one minute later.

Powell gave Evesham some hope with his second late on but the damage had been done and Town go through to the next round.

Elsewhere, Corby Town progressed with a hard-fought 2-0 win against Romulus FC.

After a goalless first half, Sam Mulready gave the away side the lead from the penalty spot before Romulus had a goal chalked off for offside.

And to rub salt into the wounds, Mulready finished the match late on with a fine strike into the top corner.

Thamesmead Town and AFC Hornchurch will do battle again after they drew 1-1, with Paul Vines’ early strike cancelled out by Hornchurch’s Ross Wall.

In the day’s other match, Sam Adams’ early strike was enough for Hastings United to overcome Romford.
