Daggers hammer Clanfield in FA Youth Cup second round

Four goals from Dylan Florence helped Dagenham & Redbridge blast their way into the FA Youth Cup third round as they beat Clanfield 7-1.

Clanfield came into the tie as one of the lowest-ranked side remaining in the competition but were quickly undone by the brilliance of Florence, as well as strikes from James Turvey and Blue Gallagher, the Daggers setting up a clash with Oxford United in the next round.

Elsewhere on Thursday, having swept aside AFC Totton 9-0 in the previous round, Cheltenham Town were made to work a lot harder to see off Welling United 2-0.

Fleetwood Town narrowly avoided an upset against Tamworth as they came from behind in extra-time to win 2-1.

As the match looking like it was heading towards penalties, Jack Bishop tapped home from close range to complete the comeback.

Dylan Asonganyi’s brace and Tommy Hope’s well-taken effort proved too much for Barnet as they were swept aside 3-1 at the Hive by MK Dons.

An own goal from Steven Shaw gave Scunthorpe United a narrow 1-0 victory over Cambridge United and ensured they would face holders Chelsea in the third round.

On Monday, Colchester United got the better of Bishop’s Stortford 5-0 while last week, Portsmouth beat Lewes 3-1.
