Farsley Celtic edge ten-goal cracker in SSE Women's FA Cup First Round

Sunday 12 Nov 2017
Manchester City are the current holders of the SSE Women's FA Cup

Ellie Casper was the hero of the hour as Farsley Celtic edged a ten-goal thriller with West Didsbury & Chorlton on an exciting day of SSE Women’s FA Cup first round action.

The visitors had equalised in the 90th minute to send the game to extra time at 4-4 but Casper broke their hearts with two quick-fire goals to cap off an incredible contest – as the competition stepped up a notch on a balmy afternoon.

Jane Yeates scored the winner as Southampton secured a 3-2 win away at Larkhall Athletic in another end-to-end tie.

Sheree Bell-Jack scored twice for the visitors, including the opener when she pounced to bury a low shot after an initial Yeates effort was parried.

Kate German equalised for the hosts with a low drive but the Saints regained the lead seconds later with another calm Bell-Jack finish.

Ann-Marie Harvey equalised again for Larkhall with a lofted strike but Southampton won it as Yeates slammed a vicious effort into the bottom corner.

Dawn Mallet has certainly left her mark on this year’s competition with four goals for MK Dons against Ashford (Middlesex).

The forward created havoc all afternoon while Amelia Hazard and Alice Hughes also netted in the 6-0 away win.

Elsewhere, there were comfortable home wins for Brighouse Town, who beat Chester-Le-Street 6-1, and AFC Wimbledon, who beat Godalming Town 5-0.

Luton Town beat local rivals AFC Dunstable 4-0 away from home, while Brislington won 4-1 at Buckland Athletic.

Tickets for The Final are on sale now, priced at only £15 for adults while kids go FREE.
