The Emirates FA Cup came to Woking on Sunday, as they shared a 1-1 draw with Bury in the first round

There were more upsets on the menu in Sunday’s helping of Emirates FA Cup action as National League side Woking forced a replay with League One strugglers Bury.

Having gone behind to a first-minute Michael Smith goal, Jamie Philpot got an equaliser for Woking on 25 minutes and the Cardinals managed to hold on for the draw.

With the score at 1-1 the Surrey-based outfit might’ve even snatched the tie but Inih Effiong couldn’t keep his shot down in the final stages.

Woking will feature in Monday’s second round draw, as will the other big winners of the day – Guiseley – also of the National League.

The Yorkshire side have never been beyond the first round proper but will get another chance to do just that after they held League Two side Accrington Stanley to a goalless draw.

It was an end-to-end game at Nethermoor Park but neither side could break the deadlock - Accrington reached the fourth round last season and will be plotting Guiseley’s downfall in the replay.

Elsewhere, eighth-tier Heybridge Swifts were unable to cause an upset against League Two’s Exeter City, four divisions above them in the footballing pyramid, as they went down 3-1.

Jayden Stockley bagged himself a double for the Grecians with Liam McAllinden also on the scoresheet, Sam Bantick got the consolation for Heybridge.

Swindon Town were determined not to let non-League opposition get the advantage over them and succeeded emphatically with a 5-1 win away at Dartford.

Timi Elsnik opened the scoring for the Robins in his first ever Emirates FA Cup game whilst Paul Mullin, Amine Linganzi and Harry Smith also got in on the act – Sho Silva with an 83rd minute consolation for Dartford.

There will be no repeat of last season’s heroics for Sutton United after they were beaten 1-0 at Cambridge United.

Jabo Ibehre pounced on a rebound to put his side ahead and despite going down to ten men, the U’s held on to reach the second round proper for the fifth straight season.

Meanwhile, National League South club Truro were defeated 3-1 by Charlton at the Valley, Coventry City beat Maidenhead United 2-0 and Wycombe Wanderers downed Solihull Moors 2-0 in the midlands.

Seventh-tier sides Leatherhead and Billericay Town will replay and are also in the hat for Monday after their 1-1 draw in Surrey.
