England’s Solly March has set his sights on the double target of a spot at the Euro Finals and winning promotion to the Premier League.

The Brighton & Hove Albion man made a successful comeback to the international fold this month and scored his first goal for the Young Lions in Monday’s 4-0 win over Denmark.

And he’s also playing his part in Albion’s promotion charge in the Championship, with Chris Hughton’s side hoping seal a spot in the top flight after previous play-off disappointments in recent years.

“I’ve had a good week and I’m excited ahead of the summer,” admitted the winger.

“It was a good team performance, and it was a bobbly pitch but we managed to play some good football and to win 4-0 and keep a clean sheet, we’re really happy with it.

“There is strong competition for places, with people all trying to get their name on the team sheet and get their place on the plane.

“It’s good and we’re going in the right direction.

“And we’re [Brighton] second at the moment and looking like we can do it this time, hopefully it’s our year.

“That would be the icing on the cake if we can win promotion and the Euros – that’s the aim.”

The goal was an extra bonus for the 22-year-old, who was back in the squad for the first time in over a year after suffering from a cruciate knee injury last term.

He had featured at the start of the Euro qualifying campaign, including the dramatic 3-1 victory over Switzerland on his home turf at the Amex Stadium in November 2015, which proved to be his last appearance before the injury.

And he admits he was surprised to get the call again, despite making a successful recovery and returning to action with Brighton this term.

“It was a nice strike, especially on a tough pitch, but I’m happy with that,” he added.

“I didn’t think I’d get a call-up to be honest, so I’m happy to get my chance to play and we have no more friendlies so I’m happy to stake a claim with that goal and performance and hopefully I can get there [the Euros].

“It’s exciting, most of the same lads are still here and I’ve fitted straight back in, it’s been a good camp to be involved in.”

The Young Lions squad return to England from Denmark on Tuesday afternoon.
