Jordan Henderson speaks to the media ahead of England's game against Australia

Jordan Henderson says he's looking forward to Friday's game in Sunderland – 13 years on from England's last game in his home city.

Henderson was a ball-boy when the Three Lions beat Turkey at the Stadium of Light in 2003, and looks set to line up there against Australia tomorrow evening.

"The people here are very passionate about football," the Liverpool midfielder told the media at the team's base in the north-east.

"It means an awful lot, I'm sure, to the people here to go and watch an England team perform hopefully and get a good result.

"The atmosphere in the last game here, against Turkey, was very good – and we got a good result as well, so it was good night overall.

"The atmosphere was brilliant – that's one thing that did stand out in my mind – and hopefully it can be the same tomorrow."
