Bowers & Pitsea and Bodmin Town progressed in The FA Vase

Bowers & Pitsea booked their place in the last 32 of The FA Vase for the first time since 1999 with a 3-1 win over Broxbourne Borough on Tuesday night.

They were behind at half-time but Lewis Manor restored parity after the break when he latched onto Jamie Salmon’s pass to slot home.

Salmon grabbed a goal of his own shortly afterwards, flicking home Vinny Durrant’s cross following a short corner.

And it was Durrant who completed the scoring 10 minutes from time, curling home a superb free-kick to send the Essex Senior League side through.

Bodmin Town clinched a 2-0 win at Welton Rovers to join Bowers & Pitsea in the fourth round.

Welton were down to 10 men after 19 minutes, when Jamie Gregory was shown a straight red card for a late challenge.

Steve Bowker headed the Black & Ambers ahead on the stroke of half-time, only to be shown a red card of his own – booked for the second time on 77 minutes.

But substitute Nick Hurst made sure of the result 10 minutes later, drilling home from 10 yards after Bodmin hit their hosts on the break.
