And England made a bright start to their campaign, as a goal from captain Gabrielle George in the first half proved enough to see off the challenge of the Austrians.

The Everton defender scored the winner by getting on the end of a free-kick from Sunderland’s Emma Kelly in the 33rd minute and turning home from ten yards.

Their next game takes place on Thursday afternoon, when Belgium are the opponents before their final match with host nation and title holders Sweden is played on Sunday.
