Jamie Vardy netted his eighth goal in eight consecutive Premier League matches to help Leicester City to a 3-2 win over West Bromwich Albion.

Jose Salomon Rondon's strike after 30 minutes had given West Brom the lead before a double from Riyad Mahrez put the Foxes back in charge, and Vardy popped up to net the crucial goal in the 77th minute.

Saido Berahino made way in the closing stages for Rickie Lambert, whose penalty gave West Brom a glimmer of hope but Leicester held out for an thrilling victory.

It was a good day at the office for Liverpool's England stars as they earned an impressive 3-1 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Gary Cahill started in defence for the Blues he enjoyed a dream start as Ramires netted inside five minutes, before Philippe Coutinho equalised for Jurgen Klopp's men.

Nathaniel Clyne, James Milner and Adam Lallana all started for the Reds, who took the lead through Coutinho in the 74th minute before Christian Benteke added to Jose Mourinho's woes.

At Selhurst Park, England skipper Wayne Rooney led the line for Manchester United against Crystal Palace with Chris Smalling at heart of defence, but it was a second 0-0 draw in a row for Louis van Gaal's men.

Manchester City sit top of the table but it went down to the wire with Cameron Jerome firing past Joe Hart to cancel out Nicolas Otamendi's opener.

Nathan Redmond and Raheem Sterling both appeared from the bench for their respective sides but it was the latter who was left smiling after Russell Martin saw red for handball and Yaya Toure fired home the winner from the resulting penalty – Aleksandar Kolarov missing another spot-kick in stoppage time.

Only goal difference separates City from nearest rivals Arsenal however, after the Gunners ran out 3-0 winners against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.

Jonjo Shelvey was in midfield for the Swans but he could do little as goals from Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Joel Campbell sealed victory – Kieran Gibbs and Calum Chambers coming off the bench to help see out the result late on.

Elsewhere Jack Butland put on a masterclass as Stoke City held Newcastle to a goalless draw while Andy Carroll and Carl Jenkinson both started as West Ham went down 2-0 to Watford.

In the Championship Young Lions stars Moses Odubajo and Chuba Akpom helped Hull to a 2-0 win over MK Dons to keep them in the hunt at the top, just two points adrift of leaders Brighton & Hove Albion.

Burnley are level on points with Hull after they picked up a 2-1 win over Huddersfield – Chris Long making a late substitute appearance – while goalkeeper Jordan Pickford kept his fourth clean sheet in a row as Preston North End and Bolton Wanderers drew 0-0.

At St Andrews, U19s starlet Sheyi Ojo netted in the 84th minute to put the icing on the cake of a for Wolves in a 2-0 win over Birmingham City.

Demarai Gray started for Birmingham but his side were up against it after David Edwards scored in the 12th minute before substitute Ojo's strike made sure of all the points.

Elsewhere Ainsley Maitland-Niles featured as Ipswich were held 0-0 at home to Cardiff while Under-20s star Jack Stephens was a substitute in Middlesbrough's 3-0 win over Charlton.

In the lower leagues England U19’s striker Adam Armstrong was the difference for Coventry City as they came from behind to win 3-2.

With the scoreline at 2-1, Newcastle United loanee Armstrong equalised from close range before slotting home again on 87 minutes to seal a win for his side.

And Manchester United loanee Ben Pearson played 90 minutes of Barnsley’s 2-0 loss at Scunthorpe.
