Jake Forster-Caskey has spent time on loan with MK Dons this season

England Under-21s midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey faces a unique scenario on Saturday as Brighton & Hove Albion host MK Dons.

The Seagulls youngster is back at the Amex Stadium having recently finished a month’s loan with their Championship rivals.

But he admits that while he is now focused on helping Albion maintain their unbeaten start to the season, he appreciated his short spell with Karl Robinson’s side.

"I really enjoyed it, I was playing games which helped and the manager made me feel welcome, as did the boys," he explained after being named in Gareth Southgate’s latest U21s squad who will play in Brighton on Monday 16 November.

"I went straight into starting and played every minute so for me it was a perfect loan, I got some good minutes under my belt and I thought I performed well.

"He likes to play football and you can see that with his teams, he sets out to dominate possession and they do that - I think we dominated in all of the games I was there, so I enjoyed it."

Forster-Caskey, 21, has been in and around the Albion senior squad and England development teams since 2011, so has a modicum of experience for one so young.

And with opportunities under Chris Hughton limited after their flying start, he reveals it was that thirst for regular action that prompted him to make the temporary move to stadiummk.

"For me, it was just a case of wanting to play football," he said.

"I’ve been playing since I was quite a young age and I wanted to feature every Saturday, so that’s why I did it.

"But I’m back here now and just trying to work hard in training and see what happens from there - my focus is with Brighton.

"There’s a few of us who haven’t played that many games but when the team is winning, there’s not much you can do at all.

"You just have to back the boys and hope they keep performing, but in training you want to do well and push the others for the shirt."

Forster-Caskey will be hoping to feature at the Amex Stadium on Monday week, though, as the U21s will be on the south coast to face Switzerland in Euro Qualifying on Monday 16 November.
