Women's U17s squad named for European Championship

Notts County midfielder Ashleigh Plumptre is in the 18-player Euro squad

John Griffiths has named his England Women’s Under-17s squad for this summer’s European Championship finals.

The Young Lions have been drawn in Group A alongside host nation Iceland, Spain and holders Germany.

The finals will take place between 22 June and 4 July.

Euro schedule

22 June: v Spain
25 June: v Iceland
28 June: v Germany

Twelve of Griffiths’s 18-player squad helped England progress from the elite qualifying round, where they bounced back from an opening-day defeat by Republic of Ireland to see off Hungary and Holland.

There are two U17s debutants in the squad, Chelsea’s Rachel Hardy and Manchester United’s Serena Fletcher.

England begin their campaign against Spain on 22 June.
