Liverpool's young Reds sent Derby County out of The FA Youth Cup with a 5-2 win in Wednesday's Fourth Round tie.

Striker Jerome Sinclair bagged two, as did Harry Wilson, while Spaniard Sergi Canos also found the net to set up a Fifth Round meeting with Birmingham City.

It took Sinclair, who has England honours at U16 and U17 level, just five minutes to give the home side the lead from close-range, but Charles Vernam levelled for the Rams.

Vernam had a golden opportunity to give Derby the lead when keeper Andy Firth was deemed to have fouled Mo Adams inside the box.

However, Firth won the duel, denying the Derby man to keep the scores level.

Another England youngster, Sheyi Ojo, showed his qualities on the flank, crossing for Sinclair to chest in for his second as Liverpool to a lead in at half-time.

And Neil Critchley's side turned the screw after the break to clinch the game.

Welsh midfielder Wilson was fouled on the edge of the box before brushing himself down to take the free-kick. And the strike was perfect, dipping over the wall and beyond the dive of goalkeeper Eric Behrens.

Canos made it 4-1, finishing off a quick Liverpool break with a low strike inside the post. And then, with two minutes left, Wilson was fouled in the area for a penalty and he once again stepped forward and slotted home the fifth.

Derby did get one back in injury time when Sinclair pulled back James Carvell for the game's third penalty.

Undeterred by his earlier miss, Vernam struck a confident low effort to score, but it was not enough to save Derby as Liverpool's Cup charge continues.

Elsewhere, the Reds' Merseyside rivals Everton went out on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Southampton and Swansea City edged past Doncaster Rovers.

Arsenal also went through at the expense of Hertfordshire outfit Royston Town, whose first team play in the Southern League Division One Central.

It was a valiant effort from the visitors who took a shock lead early on through Joe Grossi’s strike. But Stephy Mavididi scored twice just before half-time to snatch the win.
