AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley has led his side into the Third Round Proper

Neal Ardley leads his AFC Wimbledon side into an FA Cup Third Round Proper tie with Liverpool on Monday evening, after describing this stage of the competition as "immense".

The Dons boss had to knock-out his former Wimbledon team-mate Gareth Ainsworth in their Second Round clash with Wycombe Wanderers, before being paired up with the Merseyside giants at home.

And given his close affiliation with both the Wimbledon of old and the re-formed club which he now manages, Ardley was delighted to see himself pitted against the seven times FA Cup winners and a replay of the famous Final from 1988 when the Dons beat Liverpool by 1-0 at Wembley.

"The Third Round of The FA Cup for a club like us is absolutely immense," said Ardley.

"People have worked hard behind the scenes at this club to get it to where it is and I desperately wanted to get them into the Third Round of The FA Cup.

"I really hoped that the draw would be a glamour tie which will put us on the map and financially help, which will bring everything to the party and give us something to look forward to over Christmas and into January."
