England Women U17s’ opening match of 2015 ended in a 4-2 defeat by Germany at Bisham Abbey.

John Griffiths’s side are hosting a mini tournament at the national sports centre in preparation for their final round of Euro qualifiers in April.

England and Germany shared four goals in a frantic opening quarter of an hour before the visitors, reigning European U17 Champions, grabbed two more goals before half-time.

Ashleigh Plumptre and Mayumi Pacheco bagged the goals for the Young Lions. 

England face France on Friday in their final match before April’s Euro qualifiers – where they will compete with Republic of Ireland, Hungary and Netherlands for a place in the finals.

The matches will take place in Ireland between 9-14 April. The finals will be staged in Iceland in June.
