The chance to play at Wembley is not the only ambition for clubs in The FA Vase.

The financial benefits can transform a club's future off the field, as Glossop North End chairman Peter Hammond only knows too well.

The Hillmen's last-16 tie at home to Dunston UTS had to be postponed last weekend due to a frozen pitch and the teams are hoping to reconvene at the Arthur Goldthorpe Stadium this Saturday.

Both clubs have an impressive recent history in this competition. Dunston were victorious over West Auckland Town three seasons ago while North End were beaten finalists in 2009.

The Derbyshire side are on course for promotion from the North West Counties League Premier Division, but Hammond is desperate to witness his club play at Wembley in May.

"We got to The Final in 2009 and the money we received helped us build a new a clubhouse," said Hammond.

"It also helps us to make plans for future investments and we're hoping to install new floodlights in the near future, our progress in The FA Vase will be vital in helping us raise more money for them.

"I've been dreaming of reaching Wembley ever since I joined the club.

"Luckily we got there in 2009 but lost 2-0 to Whitley Bay. I'd love to see us go one better this year and I think we've got a fantastic chance.

"We're having a great league season and winning the league is, of course, the priority but going all the way in this competition would be the icing on the cake."

North End are expecting around 200 visiting fans to the Arthur Goldthorpe Stadium, along with some esteemed guests in the directors' box.

"We've got the chairman of our league coming down to watch and members of The FA Vase committee so it's a big day for the club," added Hammond.

"We're expecting around 500 people to be there so we're having to bring in extra stewards for the game.

"Our manager Chris Wilcock has assembled one of the best teams I've seen during my time with the club so we're expecting to go all the way this year."
