Gavin McCallum scored one and set up five as Eastbourne Borough flew into The FA Trophy second round with a 7-4 win over Hemel Hempstead Town.

Having led 3-0 at half-time through Darren Lok and two from Elliot Romain, Eastbourne Borough trailed 4-3 with 20 minutes to play, after an Oliver Hawkins double was followed up by Zane Banton and Jamie Slabber.

But three goals in seven minutes broke Hemel Hempstead’s hearts before Jack Evans scored the seventh to put the gloss on the result.

Welling United almost gave away a four-goal lead in their 4-3 win at Tilbury, conceding three in the final ten minutes to make for a nervy finish to the game.

Kieron St Aimie scored in the first minute of the game and two strikes from George Porter before half-time saw the Wings go into the break well on top.

Ricky Wellard made it four on the hour mark, but Jack Carlile’s 82nd-minute goal was followed by efforts from Kurt Smith and Daniel Glozier. Welling, though, hung on for the win.

Wrexham came out on top against Tranmere Rovers, winning 4-2 at Prenton Park. They took the lead in the fourth minute through Wes York and doubled the advantage through Dominic Vose, before Tranmere pulled one back in added time - James Norwood slotting home.

But Sean Newton restored the two-goal cushion on the hour mark and Emmanuel Smith headed in from a corner minutes later. Norwood’s second 10 minutes from time was a mere consolation.

Eight of the scheduled 32 games were postponed due to bad weather and Macclesfield Town v Ashton United became the ninth when it was abandoned at half-time with the home side trailing 2-0.

Elsewhere in the first round, Havant & Waterlooville beat Forest Green Rovers 2-0 thanks to a Scott Donnelly penalty and a 20-yarder from James Hayter.

Oxford City won 3-1 at home to Ebbsfleet United, with Oxford City’s Luke Coulson scoring a corner, while Burscough forced Guiseley into a replay with a 2-2 draw.
