Millwall's Lily Agg

Millwall Lionesses produced a spirited second-half comeback to defeat Durham 3-2 in a pulsating FA WSL2 encounter at New Ferens Park.

Amelia Pereira gave the hosts a first-half lead before Rinsola Babajide equalised after the break.

Substitute Lily Agg then turned the game with two goals and although Beth Hepple replied, the visitors held on for a first league victory of the season.

Emily Scott twice went close inside the opening 30 minutes, with her 20-yard strike crashing against the bar before a half-volley on the turn was cleared off the line.

But Durham took the lead after 37 minutes when Becky Beech dispossessed Naomi Cole, slid in Pereira and the Portuguese midfielder made no mistake to slot into the bottom corner.

Millwall came out buoyed in the second half and equalised when Babajide cut out Vic Linsley’s backpass and slotted high past Helen Alderson.

And the turnaround was complete when Alderson failed to deal with a corner and Agg tapped into an empty net.

Agg’s second after 72 minutes effectively killed the game as a defensive mix-up allowed her to nip in and deftly lob over the home keeper.

Hepple’s free-kick then halved the deficit but despite late pressure, Durham couldn’t find an equaliser.
