Bamber Bridge face Spennymoor Town in the next round

Bamber Bridge booked their place in the First Qualifying Round of The FA Trophy with a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Lancaster City.

Darren Green and Greg Johnstone both netted braces and Alistair Waddecar also got himself on the scoresheet as the host’s five goals were only replied by a solitary Neil Marshal strike for Lancaster City.

Bamber Bridge’s victory came as a surprise in what was billed as a close tie, and the pair drew 1-1 in their recent September clash.

After starting the match brightly, Brig finally took the lead after 30 minutes when Green fired a shot into the bottom corner from 20 yards.

Six minutes later the hosts doubled their lead. This time Green turned provider as he laid on Johnstone for his first goal of the night.

The second-half began in similar fashion for Neil Crowe's side, with Waddecar making it 3-0 minutes after play had resumed.

Waddecar and his team-mates refused to take their foot off the gas though and with an hour gone it was 4-0, Green grabbing his second of the night.

The victory was completed in the 78th minute when Johnstone powered a header past the Lancaster City goalkeeper.

Lancaster did grab a goal of their own, however, after captain Marshall headed home in the 92nd minute.

It was nothing more than a consolation as Bamber Bridge marched on.

They now travel to Spennymoor Town on Saturday 1 November in the First Round Qualifying phase.
