July FA WSL television schedule confirmed

Saturday 28 Jun 2014
Liverpool v Arsenal will be the first live game

BT Sport has chosen its July selection of FA Women’s Super League (WSL) matches for live broadcast.

The FA WSL returns on Sunday 29 June and live coverage begins with a Merseyside double-header at Select Security Stadium in Halton.

In a battle of two cities, Liverpool take on Arsenal in the day’s first match (12.15pm KO) followed by Everton v Chelsea (3.15pm KO).

Both games are live on BT Sport 1 and coverage begins at midday.

Liverpool are two points behind leaders Birmingham in fourth place. Liverpool defender Becky Easton said: “We’re unbeaten in the league and quite happy where we are.

“It’s probably the worst time to be facing Arsenal, they’ve just won the FA Cup but people have been writing them off. They lost a lot of players over pre-season and it takes time to gel together – and you don’t win the FA Cup if you are a bad team.

“But we’re confident in our own ability and we’re looking to get a win.”

Chelsea are looking to kick-start their season on Sunday after winning just one of their opening four games. They take on Everton, who are a place below them in seventh.

Chelsea’s Hannah Blundell said: “If you look at the league being sixth out of eighth isn’t great but all it takes is one more win and then we’re right back in there. Personally I think it’s going quite well, obviously we’ve lost one in the league and then we’ve won one and drew two, so it’s quite positive really.

“I think this season is the closest so far, everyone is just taking points off everyone. It’s really good for the women’s game as well.”
