FA Mars Just Play disabled sessions prove popular

Anyone can get involved with Just Play

As part of FA Mars Just Play for free month, disabled football fans across the country are being offered the opportunity to join other like-minded fans and get involved in the game we all know and love.

The concept is simple – football is fun to play, a great way to meet new people and always open to everyone.

Over 1,400 free FA Mars Just Play kickabouts are being put on during the month-long initiative, which runs until 13 July.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, gender or ability - and as part of that philosophy, there are 15 centres nationwide putting on specialist sessions for disabled players.

A keen advocate of the disability sessions offered in her own county, Jessica Lawson, of the Cumberland FA said: “The programme has been fantastic and the uptake really positive.

“Each centre acts as local football hubs for disability football, completely led by volunteers, offering weekly football provision for the disabled community - a very positive environment and we’re delighted how things are going.

“We’ve found that it acts as entry level activity to support individuals accessing pan disability clubs and leagues.

“Just Play kickabouts are flexible and fun – and really bring people together."

As well as the centres offering disability kickabouts, there are also 20 others putting on walking football - for the more senior fans.
