Vicente del Bosque is in confident spirits ahead of opener with Holland
Defending champions Spain arrived in Brazil on Sunday evening in confident spirits as manager Vincente del Bosque declared they do not fear anyone.

Following wins at Euro 2008 and 2012, and their success in the World Cup 2010, Spain are looking for their fourth major title in a row – and their defence begins against the team they defeated in the final four years ago, Holland, on Friday.

They will also face Chile and Australia during the group stage, but del Bosque is undaunted by the tough opener with the Dutch and says he is optimistic about his side’s chances in South America.

"We don't have any fear. But we do have respect," del Bosque said. "They are runner-up from the last World Cup so we have full respect for Holland.

"We're very optimistic after our training and two friendly matches. We are meeting our expectations. We are confident heading into the World Cup."

France will also heading to the tournament in confident spirits as they were rampant 8-0 winners over Jamaica in Lille on Sunday.

Karim Benzema, Blaise Matuidi and Antoine Griezmann scored two goals apiece, with Yohan Cabaye and Olivier Giroud also on target in a dominant showing for Les Bleus.

France are in Group E along with Switzerland, Honduras and Ecuador.

England’s Group D opponents Italy recorded their first win in eight games in a friendly with Brazilian club Fluminense on Sunday.

Ciro Immobile hit a hat-trick for the Azzurri, and the Torino striker linked up well with Napoli's Lorenzo Insigne, who scored the other two goals in a 5-3 win.

Immobile teed up Insigne to open the scoring midway through the first half, though the goal was immediately cancelled out by Chiquinho.

Immobile then headed in Insigne's cross to restore Italy's lead but they were level again at half-time as goalkeeper Mattia Perin allowed Carlinhos' toe-poke to squirm under him into the net.

Fears of their winless run continuing were quickly extinguished after the restart as Italy struck three times in as many minutes.

Immobile banged home the rebound after Alessio Cerci's shot was saved and then completed his hat-trick after latching on to Thiago Motta's through-ball before he set-up Insigne to make it five.

Substitute Matheus Carvalho scored within five minutes of entering the action but the score remained 5-3.

Italy begin their World Cup campaign against Roy Hodgson's England side in Manaus on Saturday.

Iran also tasted victory as they defeated Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 in Sao Paulo.

Ehsan Haji Safi scored late in the first half and Reza Ghoochannejhad, who plays for Charlton Athletic, added a goal early in the second.

This will be Iran’s fifth World Cup appearance and their first since 2006. They open against Nigeria on 16 June, then play Argentina and finish the group stage against Bosnia-Herzegovina.
