Barnet have confirmed that Paul Fairclough has been named interim first-team manager following the departure of Edgar Davids over the weekend.

Fairclough will combine his role with his position of England C manager and will lead the Bees into battle against Aldershot Town on Tuesday night at The Hive.

In a statement released on Monday, Barnet said: “Barnet Football Club can confirm that Paul Fairclough has been named interim first-team manager following the departure of Edgar Davids.

“The club believe that in Paul Fairclough we have a manager with significant experience in non-league football who can come in and have a positive effect both on and off the pitch.

“There has already been an incredible amount of interest in the managerial vacancy and the appointment of Fairclough will allow the club to assess their position and appoint the best possible candidate.”

It is the fourth time Fairclough has been placed in charge of the club.

He had a five-year spell as manager until 2009 and took interim control after Ian Henderson and Mark Stimson left the club in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
