Patrick Bamford becomes the fourth England U21 star to join Derby County.

Patrick Bamford has become the fourth England Under-21 star to join Derby County’s promotion push in the Championship.

The Chelsea striker has signed on loan for the rest of the season at the IPro Stadium, venue for England’s next Euro qualifier in March.

And after earning a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad and picking up his first cap against San Marino in November, he will now be hoping to stay in the spotlight with Steve McClaren's Rams.

Bamford scored 16 goals in 29 appearances for MK Dons in League One earlier this season to catch the eye of Southgate and he will now get the chance to test himself at a higher level.

He’ll be joining some familiar faces too, as McClaren already has Under-21 midfielder Will Hughes in his ranks, along with two loanees in Andre Wisdom from Liverpool and Manchester United’s Michael Keane.

So when Southgate’s side take on Wales on 5 March, they should be more than at home with their surroundings.

Ironically, Derby host Chelsea in The FA Cup Third Round Proper this weekend but with Bamford's loan spell officially starting on Monday, the former Nottingham Forest and England U19 player won't be involved in that game.

However, you can buy tickets for England Under-21s' match with Wales, priced at just £10 for Adults and £5 for U18s. These can be purchased in person from the Digonex Ticket Office, by calling 0871 472 1884 (option 1) or by visiting WeAreDerby.com.
