England Under-21s have called MK Dons striker Patrick Bamford into the squad to face San Marino on Tuesday evening.

The on-loan Chelsea player comes in to replace Saido Berahino, who has returned to West Bromwich Albion due to his suspension for the game in Shrewsbury.

Bamford, who has previously been capped at U18 and U19 level, has scored 12 goals in 20 appearances for the League One club this season.

Gareth Southgate will also be without Manchester United’s Nick Powell, who will stay with loan club Wigan Athletic for treatment on an injury which meant he didn’t report last week, but remained part of the squad whilst his condition was assessed.

Will Keane has also gone back to train with Manchester United, after spending the last week with Southgate’s squad following his return to fitness.
