England Under-21s got their home double-header off to a winning start on Thursday night with a 3-0 victory over Finland in Milton Keynes.

Gareth Southgate's side were convincing winners against the Finns and now turn their attentions to Tuesday's game with San Marino in Shrewsbury.

But for all of the non-starters in the squad, there was a hard training session at St. George's Park on Friday morning to keep them ready for action should they be required next week.

Southgate, assistant coach Steve Holland and goalkeeping coach Martin Thomas oversaw the session, which featured possession play, small-sided team work and a shooting drill - with some stunning goals and saves on show.

Watford goalkeeper Jonathan Bond was certainly kept on his toes, facing shots from every angle with some expert shooting coming from the likes of Danny Ings, Tom Ince, Will Keane, Jesse Lingard and Will Hughes with some fine goals and equally eye-catching saves.

And defenders Liam Moore, Eric Dier and Jack Robinson weren't left out either, with all of them showing good form in front of goal too.

The squad have now been given opportunity to return home for a free day, before returning to St. George's Park on Saturday evening when the preparations for San Marino will begin.

Tickets are still available for Tuesday's game at Greenhous Meadow by calling 01743 273943.
