Daniel Nti tucks away Worcester's leveller

Worcester City kept their heroic FA Cup run alive with a 1-1 Second Round draw away at Scunthorpe United.

The Conference North side fell behind in the first-half to a Paddy Madden strike, but Daniel Nti’s goal in the 46th minute earned them a replay.

After knocking out Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena in the last round, Worcester travelled to Glanford Park full of optimism. But they struggled to assert themselves on proceedings as the hosts - ranked 60 places above them in the league system - started strongly.

Madden went close after just ten minutes, heading straight at the goalkeeper from a dangerous free-kick. The striker missed another good opportunity 15 minutes later, this time his header even failing to troubling Nathan Vaughan in the Worcester goal.

But Madden finally found the back of the net ten minutes before half-time when he tapped home after Miguel Llera's curling free-kick had been turned onto the crossbar.

Scunthorpe’s half-time lead only lasted one minute into the second period as Worcester pulled level thanks to Nti’s effort. The home side failed to clear their lines and, after pinball inside the area, Nti was on hand to stab the ball past Sam Slocombe.

The goal had invigorated the visitors and it was them who suddenly looked like the established League side. And moments later they almost took the lead when Mike Symons fired wide from eight yards after Sean Geddes’ corner had been spilled in the box.

Shocked into action by Worcester’s resurgence, Scunthorpe began to throw players forward in an attempt to avoid a replay. But, in the end, neither side could find the decisive goal.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Bradford City made their way into the Third Round at the expense of Dartford with a comprehensive 4-1 win.

In front of 5,373 fans, Phil Parkinson's League One side side took a two-goal lead before the break and wrapped the tie up in the second half to dash the dreams of the Conference outfit.

Billy Clarke put the home side ahead after ten minutes following a sweet cross from strike partner and on-loan Huddersfield Town man Jon Stead. And, twenty minutes later, Stead got his own name on the scoresheet by side-footing home a Mark Yeates cross.

The result was confirmed on the cusp of the hour mark when right-winger Filipe Morais smashed home a stunning 25-yard drive. And Yeates then scored a goal of his own with a sublime curling effort from the opposite flank.

Lee Noble scored a consolation goal for the visitors but his side could not peg back Bradford, who will take number 59 in Monday's draw.
