England Women's U17s lost their first game of the year as they went down 2-0 to Poland in their UEFA Development Tournament opener at St. George's Park.

Having not played since December, a young group took on the Poles at the national football centre in Burton on Trent in the first of three games this week.

Brent Hills was in charge of the side who found themselves a goal behind after just ten minutes.

Poland doubled the advantage shortly after and it was enough to earn victory.

It's the start of a fairly busy few months for this age-group. With two more games in the coming days, against Denmark (Tuesday 8 April) and Switzerland (Thursday 10 April), England then have a training camp in May before heading to Sweden for the Nordic Cup in July.

Next season’s opening round of Euro qualifiers then begin in October where the Lionesses will take on Russia, Moldova and host nation Bulgaria.
