Birmingham City and Cambridge United sanctioned

An independent Regulatory Commission has sanctioned Cambridge United FC and Birmingham City FC for the mass confrontation at their EFL League One fixture on Saturday 3 May.

It was alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players and/or technical area occupants didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the tunnel area at half time.

Cambridge United FC admitted the charge, and the Regulatory Commission imposed a £5,000 fine and warning following a hearing.

Birmingham City FC denied the charge, but the Regulatory Commission found it to be proven and imposed a £20,000 fine and warning following the hearing.

The Regulatory Commission’s written reasons for its decisions can be read below.
