Home Bargains were crowned winners of the 2025-26 FA Sunday Cup, beating Hartlepool AFC Supporters on penalties in this season’s final.
It finished 1-1 after 90 minutes with both goals coming in the second half. Home Bargains struck first before Hartlepool AFC Supporters left it late to equalise but it was Home Bargains who won 3-1 on penalties.
The two teams went head-to-head at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane on a sunny day in South Yorkshire.
A goalless first half meant it was all to play for when the teams re-emerged in the second period and it wasn’t long before Home Bargains took the lead.
Shortly after the restart, with 53 minutes on the watch, Home Bargains – jointly managed by Brian Moogan and Joseph Gilbiliru – were awarded a free-kick out on the left.
Joseph Evans floated the ball into the box, his delivery met by Declan Daniels whose header beat Hartlepool AFC Supporters keeper Robert Dean to ripple the net and open the scoring.
Later in the second half, Jonathan Payne’s Hartlepool AFC Supporters were reduced to ten men when captain Luke Naylor was dismissed.
Hartlepool AFC Supporters chased an equaliser and it eventually came in the fifth minute of stoppage time in dramatic fashion.
It all started with a corner kick and with Home Bargains unable to clear their lines, it came back to substitute Elliot Wilson who curled in a right-footed effort from inside the box as the team in blue managed a last-gasp leveller to take the tie to penalties.
Home Bargains were victorious in the shootout, winning 3-1 on penalties as stopper Germano Mendez pulled off two saves, keeping out the decisive kick from Neil Fannan.
Steven Tames, Lucas Wilson and James Barrigan – the trio introduced off the bench – successfully converted their spot-kicks for the winning team while Craig Linsel slotted away his penalty for Hartlepool AFC Supporters, with keeper Dean also making a stop.
